Six Days til the Junk Food Guy Heads to the Summer Fancy Food Show!
Junk Food Nation, after I posted my new business cards over on Twitter and Facebook, a few of you messaged me asking what the heck these were for. It warrants mentioning, rather than rushing it later…in six days, I’ll be attending the Summer Fancy Food Show here in Washington DC!
The Fancy Food Show is a ridiculous name for the summer’s largest specialty food trade show put on NASFT (the National Assoc. for the Specialty Food Trade). One gigantic room, thousands of gourmet and specialty foods, hot, cold, packaged and otherwise. Think of it as walking through Whole Foods where everything is free. They have two a year, and for the past couple years, the summer version has been here in DC! Still unconvinced of what this is? Check out this promo video and tell you your mouth isn’t watering after:
Uh huh. Yeah, that’s right.
The show’s not open to the public, so I felt grateful to be squeezed in. In preparation of this, I needed to make sure I was well represented. Get the word out, you know? And so, I made THESE:
WHO’S THE DORK NOW?? (It’s me.)
Anyways, in six days, I’ll be at the show, and blogging all the delicious moments to you! The question does arise, however – does this show fit on a junk food blog? I’ll let you be the judge. Some of the companies to be featured:
*BOURBON BURNT SUGAR ICE CREAM (my god).
*Flax Seed Parmesan Crisps (Cheez-Its on steroids)
*Surf Doggies Gourmet Virginia Peanuts with Spicy Honey Mustard Seasoning (drool)
It’s junk food turned upside down! Anyways, I’m excited. I’ll be there live-tweeting, Instagramming, and Facebook updating the whole time, so be sure to FOLLOW and LIKE me to get all the updates from Sunday-Tuesday! This’ll be my Super Bowl!
So what do you think? Let me know if the comments below! Or hit me on Twitter @junkfoodguy or on my Facebook Page.
Sincerely, Junk Food Guy

Well, I guess JFG doesn’t feel like reviewing junk food today. No worries – apparently today is the first inaugural National Jerky Day, as proclaimed by jerky slingers Jack Links themselves. Link via Gizmodo.
I don’t care if it’s a publicity stunt or that it’s fake. I like jerky and I plan on tearing into some when I get home. But not Jack Links. I prefer Asian jerkys that are sweet & salty rather than salty & smoky.
@Shorneys – jerky day!? suspicious.
I think it’s a great idea to blog about this food show. You will get to try a lot of things we can’t. Plus I live most of my junk food threw you. I eat clean 6 out of 7 days, so I don’t try everything. Ice cream is my favorite jink food!
@WILL: I’m stoked, for sure. I’ll be Instagramming my head off.
