St.VegasMarchIceCreamYouScreamWeAllScreamForPatricksMadnessDayPalooza Day 6: Ben & Jerry’s Berried Treasure Sorbet
Ok, Junk Food Nation. It’s Monday. We have reached the end of St.VegasMarchIceCreamYouScreamWeAllScreamForPatricksMadnessDayPalooza. We’ve also reached the end of my Vegas trip. I hope you’ve enjoyed these auto posts and my trip around the freezer in my apartment. Tomorrow, live posts resume! If I’m not fried. By the time you read this, I will already be on a plane back to the East Coast. I’ll miss you Sin City. See you soon for some more sinnin’.
Today’s junk food I found in a grocery store that was going out of business!!! Never a good sign. I walked by their frozen food aisle and BOOM! Ben & Jerry’s Berried Treasure Sorbet!
I was tweeting with Marvo over at The Impulsive Buy about this sorbet, and he’d never seen it before. Google reveals that Ben and Jerry’s came out with Sorbet in 2009, but I haven’t seen it since. Which means…this is a REALLY old tub of sorbet. Yikes.
This Ben & Jerry’s Berried Treasure Sorbet was, in a word, refreshing. After five days of thick creamy ice cream or frozen yogurt, this sorbet was like a smack in the face, a nice palette cleanser. The lemon ice was really overpowering the blueberry part of the sorbet, despite the color. It’s so purple, you’d think the blueberry was dominant, but nope.
I love blackberries, but could taste none of that here. Blackberries are sour and tart…and the purple sections of this sorbet were not. Couldn’t taste any blackberry over the lemon.
The blue berry sorbet, by itself, was rather muted. Altogether, nevertheless, the sorbet was pleasant, cool, and refreshing. The texture was even better – my spoon sunk right in like it was soft butter. If the butter was icy sweet and tasted like lemon and blueberries.
BRING THIS BACK, BEN & JERRY’S! The whole world must try this.
See you live and in charge, back tomorrow, JFN!

That’s a pretty gross looking shot of the opened up carton of sorbet that shows it half-melted and then re-frozen off-kilter. I’ll be honest with you, I’m pretty surprised you ate it.
that’s pretty nasty. What was the “best by” date on the bottom?
@Dubba: yeah, the BUY date was 9-12-12…so I assumed it was still ok!
@Shorneys: Yeah, tasted all the same. Agreed that it looked suspect….but who am I to quibble? I had the spoon, I had the tub…I caved.
According to B&J’s website it’s still one of their flavors. There’s also another variety of sorbet called Jamaican Me Crazy.
@Nick: Jamaican me crazy, trying to search for these flavors!
I just got a survey from Ben and Jerry’s about a Blueberry Lemon Lavender Greek Yogurt. Can’t WAIT to try that one.
@Amanda: Blueberry Lemon Lavender??? How do *I* get on that survey?????
