St.VegasMarchIceCreamYouScreamWeAllScreamForPatricksMadnessDayPalooza Day 2: Ben & Jerry’s Volun-Tiramisu
Junk Food Nation, by the time you read this, I’ll be flying over middle America. See? This is me waving Hi to the waving wheat. HI WAVING WHEAT! *wave wave*
Whenever I fly, I like the window seat. Why? Because I like to sleep, and as uncomfortable as it is, leaning my head against the window is better than having your skull smacked by the cart as it goes by. Which has happened to me. More than once. Anyways when I get to Vegas, I’ll be tweeting all weekend, so be sure to follow me on Twitter @junkfoodguy.
Right now I’d like to discuss volunteerism. I like volunteering. And paying it forward helps the world go ’round. I am happy to try and find people work, donate clothes, do odd jobs, serve people at soup kitchens – there’s great value in helping others out. Unless it involves me listening to your mix tape. Then knock it off – I DON’T KNOW ANYONE. Sheesh.
Ben & Jerry’s partnered with Target to bring new exclusive flavors to support it’s new volunteer-focused efforts, which can be found at http://www.volunteermatch.org/scoopitforward. Helping kids, eating ice cream – it’s all good.
Ben & Jerry’s Volun-Tiramisu is one of the four flavors Ben & Jerry’s and Target collaborated on, and they are only sold at Target. I decided to review the most interesting one, IMO: Volun-Tiramisu. Frozen Food Month – ONWARD!
Wouldn’t you know, by the time I went BACK to Target to buy the pint, it was GONE! I was forced to buy a tiny mini version of Ben & Jerry’s Volun-Tiramisu ice cream 🙁
Ben & Jerry’s Volun-Tiramisu was basically a bit of coffee ice cream with some mascarpone flavor that rounded out the coffee taste. The ice cream itself was light and fluffy like tiramisu. The lady fingers inside the ice cream however were sort of hard, and chewy – that didn’t really match the fluffiness of real tiramisu. There was definite rum flavor, which was nice, and the cocoa spice was spot on. In essence, this ice cream did TASTE like tiramisu, but the texture was a LITTTTLE off. Tasty ice cream, but it was just so-so for me.
