Cheetos Puffs Honey BBQ: Negative, Ghost Rider & A Slight Review Adjustment
Junk Food Nation, today’s review…isn’t a review. I’ll level with you guys – I try to entertain all of you by trying zany snacks, good or bad … but I also don’t want to bore you with snacks that appear to be repeats or facsimiles of other snacks. Like my sister said, it’s almost pointless for me to review another Chex Mix, because you already KNOW I’m gonna bitch about the pretzels. Yawn… So in fairness, I’m gonna think hard about future product reviews and make sure I write reviews about junk food items YOU are curious about. I’m gonna thoroughly blog about stuff I think you’ll like, and then give the things I think you’ll be bored with a more cursory review.
In the spirit of that, I wanted to talk briefly about a junk food I will NOT be trying. I was at my local grocery store, and was searching the aisles for my next flavor adventure, when I saw these: Cheetos Puffs Honey BBQ!
I had something similar to this when I tried the Herr’s Honey Cheese Curls. My assessment at that time was that it tasted like cheese curls that had been dipped in ketchup…eerily sweet for a cheese snack. I wondered, in my head, “Who would eat these? Herr’s is a silly company.”
And now, in the middle of the grocery store, I see that Cheetos is on this bandwagon too! Why, people? I do not want to eat cheese and honey mixed together! Cheetos, of course, has taken a different take on the whole thing, indicating that these are Honey *BBQ* Cheetos, not just “honey” like the Herr’s version.
Reviews on this snack can be found here and here. The general consensus is that these cheese puffs taste like sweet cheese puffs – ick. I will NOT be trying these, and still don’t understand how artificial cheese flavor plus sweetness go together.
Sincerely, Junk Food Guy

I always make sure to put a mound of shredded cheddar cheese on top of my honey nut Cheerios in the morning.
Also, can you count this as something you “would not eat again” if you did not actually eat it the first time? Quite a conundrum.
Yeah, that tag should be “would not eat in the first place.”
When you have reached your limit, how about branching into foods made with junk food as a primary ingredient? Chili in a bag comes to mind (Hormel chili in a bag of Fritos). Might not be enough choices though.
I really liked the Cheetos honey BBQ puffs I’m really sad I can’t find them anymore my family was going thru like two bags a week
@Nikki – Yeah other people have really enjoyed these! I dunno why I am skeptical…
Uh, junkfoodguy, where exactly did you find them? Any particular store, city & state? Thanks so much!
@Sept – I’ve seen these around a bunch of places: they sell them at my local Walgreens here in DC and I’ve seen them at Walmart and Target before.
