Review (x2): JC’s Pie Bites, Key Lime & Strawberry Cream Coated Truffles
Today’s junk food: JC’s Pie Bites, Key Lime & Strawberry Cream Coated Truffles!!
Nation, I remember the first time I had a JC Pie Bite: it was at the Summer Fancy Food Show and Nick Rovo of On Second Scoop fame forced one into my mouth. Yes, he fed me, basically against my will. I’m still trying to scrub the memory from my brain.
Thankfully the truffle pie bite was delicious or else I’d REALLY have been pissed. JC’s recently sent me a whole slew of Pie Bites, so let’s dig in.

DO THESE TASTE GOOD? Yes.
WHY OR WHY NOT? Because these are essentially cream based flavored pies that have been presented in truffle form and that’s great! Both truffles were sort of fragile and soft – the crumb outside held the shape of the sphere, sort of, but just a little pressure from your fingers and you could squish these.
The key lime truffle had a sweet decent key lime flavored cream/mousse on the inside. It was rolled in crunchy pie crumbs. Eaten together it wasn’t the BEST representation of key lime pie I’ve ever had, but it was super sweet and lime-y.
The strawberry cream one was similar – good strawberry flavor, reminded me of the type of strawberry flavor that strawberry ice cream has. This was coated in pie crumbs too and reminded me a lot of those strawberry Good Humor ice cream bars that are coated in crumbs.
Both were really decadent and SWEET. Anyone who likes pie and truffles and sugar will enjoy these pie bites.
ANYTHING ELSE I SHOULD KNOW? These are basically an indulgence – an innovative and enjoyable way to have pie flavors in small bite form. The only knock – they certainly didn’t LOOK as colorful as on the packaging. But that’s fine with me – I prefer less dyes anyway.
PURCHASED AT: Sent to me but you can buy them at most grocery stores.
