Review: New Cape Cod Infused Mediterranean Kettle Cooked Potato Chips & Sleep Standing Up?
JFG Nation, have you ever fallen sleep standing up? I’m pretty sure I did it today. My commutes have been very long lately, and my subway rides endless. Because I yield seats to others, I stand a lot. I was SUPER tired this morning, and I think…I think….I think I slept standing up for a good 2 min.
Maybe it was a micro sleep? I feel like I actually fell asleep fully once and my legs started to buckle under me and the shift in gravity woke me up, REALLY startled me. Like a baby who doesn’t realize what gravity is. I probably would’ve thumped my head otherwise.
I dunno – is sleep standing even possible? Have you done it? What did you think? Let me know in the comments below.
Today’s junk food: New Cape Cod Infused Mediterranean Kettle Cooked Potato Chips!!
Nothing too crazy flavor wise here, just some kettle cooked chips with “Mediterranean” infusion. Let’s get to it!
DO THESE TASTE GOOD? HOLY MOLY YES YES YES.
WHY OR WHY NOT? These potato chips might be the most delicious potato chips I’ve eaten in a long time. Cape Cod makes an amazing kettle chip to begin with – crisp, crunchy, and fried in nice tasty oil. Then the salt was perfect – only enough to have take flavor into SUPER FLAVOR LAND.
But the flavors of the olive oil and basil and rosemary and oregano? Simply delicious. The hint of garlic was perfect – made the aftertaste nice and savory. It was like I got these at a gourmet restaurant. Fresh fried and drizzled with flavor. I can’t bubble enough over how good these were. These were in non-stop crunchy territory. So so easy to eat.
ANYTHING ELSE I SHOULD KNOW? I must find another bag. I didn’t realize these were that good.
PURCHASED AT: Harris Teeter, Park Potomac, MD
WHERE FOUND IN STORE? Standalone display down by the ice cream in front of the registers
COST? $3.00 with coupon
Sincerely,
The JFG

This is really interesting. We had the jalapeno infused Cape Cods and, frankly, they’re not that good. So it’s encouraging that at least one of their flavors is hitting the mark.
The jalapeno flavoring was a very pure jalapeno, but that was also the problem – usually a jalapeno chip has some garlic or onion or sour cream behind it to round out the grassier or more vegetal notes. Here, it was just like biting a fresh pepper – all of that overwhelming grassiness without any deeper flavors. Hot, sure, but not that interesting otherwise.
Oh, and I don’t think I’ve ever fallen asleep standing up. I’ve fallen asleep doing a lot of things (waiting to come in after a long orchestra rest on stage, in the courtyard before class in college, while praying in church, during the bar exam…) but never standing up. Nice work.
I worked with a girl who was known for falling asleep standing in the shower.
I tend to think that the knee buckling you described occurs just at the moment you lose consciousness, and the knee buckling never fails to snap me out of whatever state of drowsiness I was in. Falling asleep while sitting upright in a chair is about as close as I have come to your experience.
The Cape Cod chips sound great. I recently bought a small brick of cheese at Dollar Tree (!) which was similarly Mediterranean-style, and I liked it a lot.
Since I’ve been craving the now gone black garlic chips by this brand I’ll have to try these.
As to falling asleep while standing….My dad’s been doing this quite a bit lately. Restless leg syndrome means he can’t sleep normally. He goes to lay (or is it lie?) down but his legs start acting up so no sleep for him. Unfortunately this means he’s wandering around all night until he falls asleep on his feet, falls over then smacks his noggin on something. Morale of the story, just be very careful that you don’t fall down.
Found your blog by googling this exact chip — because it is SO EFFING DELICIOUS!!!
The Jalepeno infused flavor is absolutely terrible. I do not recommend buying
