Review: Trader Giotto’s Oven Baked Cheese Bites & Do You Ever Look At My Old Posts?

JFG Nation, I was curious about Facebook on Monday, but now I’m curious about how people use this site. Namely: does anyone ever go back and read any of my old posts for fun? I won’t be offended at all if the answer is No because I don’t read them myself. But I guess I’m wondering whether, unless you stumbled upon an old post trying to find something via Google, does anyone ever read or look at my old posts as a matter of practice? Do you use this site as an online reference of junk food tastes, or do you view this blog more like a magazine – read the new stuff and keep pressing forward without looking back?

If the answer is no (or yes), please let me know in the comments below. Please, enlighten me.

Today’s junk food: Trader Giotto’s Oven Baked Cheese Bites!!

Trader Giotto’s Oven Baked Cheese Bites are mini hash brown sized dried cheese crunchy cracker-like bites. They have a crunch that reminds me of a rice crackers.

DO THESE TASTE GOOD? YES.

WHY OR WHY NOT? Because the crunch is really nice and the cheese flavor is REALLY strong. The main flavor I get is parmesan with a bit of sharp cheddar. These are decently salty. Each disc is a crunchy cheese flavor explosion, but after a few I definitely slowed because I got a strange feeling on my tongue – it felt a little coated. Sort of like when you eat cubes of cheddar by themselves and ONLY cubes of cheddar. That cheese coated tongue feeling; I got that.

ANYTHING ELSE I SHOULD KNOW? Animal rennet is a liquid used to help turn milk into curds and whey, so these are basically crunchy dried/baked cheese curds! no added flour, nothing. Just crunchy dried cheese with a little bit of egg. But if you get any of these cheese bites caught in your teeth, once your saliva rehydrates it, it feels like you have little bits of egg in your mouth.

The JFG

I read your old posts when I see some shit in the grocery store and think “I wonder what Eric said about these.” Google search for JFG + name of item is usually pretty good for that.

  2. Marianne says:

I look back on old posts. Usually when I finally got around to trying something and I wanted to see what your opinion of it was. (We have remarkably similar taste!)

  3. Tina Huang says:

Yes, I’ve searched for old post to see if you reviewed something that either I just saw or tried, or didn’t like, etc.

  4. Alek says:

I love reading your old posts!!!! Sometimes I want to see reviews of an item that you did before.

The cheese crackers is ideal gluten free swap for mac & cheese crunchy topping

  5. Maria says:

Yes, I look back to see if you’ve reviewed something I’ve been curious about that’s been out for a while.

  6. Tenko says:

I snack on cheese normally, so those do sound good. I read old reviews of foods I’ve seen, but never eaten.

I read your old posts to see all my great comments. They are so good. The best.

I would go back and try to find your reviews at the grocery store, but it takes too long which is why I continue to advocate for a Junk Food Guy App where I can type in a snack’s name (or hell, it’s 2017) take a photo of it’s UPC and you’re review will automatically pop up. This is totally necessary. NO ONE DENIES THIS.

    want want want these.

And yes, from time to time I do go through your old posts. Most of the time it is due to a lag in time of new products coming on the shelves and when I finally have access to them it is neat to go back and compare my thoughts to yours. Also, whenever you have your “travel” posts it is neat to see what places you checked out and what you ordered at certain spots as a reference if I am visiting that area.

  9. Sarah says:

I have’t had the need to read older posts. But if I did, it would be to search for a review on an item.

  10. J says:

I definitely look at the older posts. Sometimes it’s because I am curious about a specific product/vcategory, or sometimes just because there isn’t a new post, so I just look at the older ones.

  11. Kel says:

I binge read the blog so I will sit here for an hour or so catching up on the last several weeks of posts. I will also go and hunt down a review I vaguely remember you doing occasionally if I’m considering buying something and I don’t remember what the verdict was.

  12. Anne Sutton says:

I read you daily so no need to go back. I’ve followed you quite a while.

  13. fbenario says:

    “WHERE FOUND I STORE?”

    You left out a letter!

  14. Veronika says:

I go back and read too. Usually will read a few posts at a time…kinda feel like I am going down a rabbit hole, like with any website. Oh, where does this go? Oh, what’s this? Hmmm, I wonder what that is about?

P.S. I love these cheese bites. But in small quantities, also. 🙂
