MICRO-REVIEW: Pepperidge Farm Chocolate Candy Cane & Pretzel Goldfish Mix
Today’s junk food: Pepperidge Farm Chocolate Candy Cane & Pretzel Goldfish Mix!!
I found these at Target and…wait a minute. These look just like:
YOU JUST RE-PACKAGED THIS ISH. Grumble…
When I reviewed the previous Pepperidge Farm Chocolate Mint & Pretzel Goldfish Mix, it was February of this year. At the time, I said, “The chocolate mint cookie pieces tasted sort of like the inside of a Thin Mint – nice and light and crunchy, and the chocolate mint flavor was bold but not overly sweet. I liked the subtlety and restraint. But the salty pretzel added in was a little weird. The pretzels itself were good, but salty mint?”
Forgetting that I’d tried essentially this same product before, I went into thesePepperidge Farm Chocolate Candy Cane & Pretzel Goldfish Mix blind…and basically had the same thought! Which means, in my head, this is the exact same product. The Chocolate Mint Goldfish were like a not-so-sweet version of a Thin Mint cookie, and the pretzels added an interesting blend. This time around, however, I didn’t hate it. Maybe because I’ve been having a LOT of chocolate mint lately, but I felt like the more muted nature of this snack and the almost savory/sweet effect it had were positives. After a sea of SUPER sweet winter confection, this pullback was a nice touch.
Ok, Pepperidge Farm, maybe I DON’T hate this re-release. I guess it’s all about timing.
PURCHASED AT: Target, Germantown, MD.
COST: $2.49.
Sincerely,
The JFG
