JFG Nation, with winter storms hitting the Northeast and Midwest, it’s clear that it’s HOT COCOA TIME. But how do you like your hot cocoa? When I was younger I used to love loading up hot cocoa with those mini marshmallows until it formed a centimeter thick marshmallow wall between me and the scaling hot chocolate. Then there are others who liked putting that one HUGE marshmallow in the center of their cup (which I find completely useless – I don’t want to be pulling up a half melted half soggy marshmallow to suck on the bottom of it. I want the little marshmallows so I can have little marshmallow bits with each sip/gulp. YOU MANIACS.)

Today’s junk food: Hershey’s Caramel Cookie Layer Crunch!!

This Hershey’s Caramel Cookie Layer Crunch was sent to me and it looks GREAT. Milk chocolate bars with shortbread cookie bits and caramel? Sounds like Hershey’s answer to a Twix! Yum yum yum.

Hershey’s Caramel Cookie Layer Crunch comes in bags with these little 3-segment bars, or you can buy them in full candy at size. I opted to try one of these fun size ones because I HAVE SELF CONTROL, SHARON. MAYBE YOU SHOULD TRY IT SOMETIME.

Opening one of these Hershey’s Caramel Cookie Layer Crunch bars, I was greeted by the familiar smell of Hershey’s chocolate. Classic Hershey’s bar segmented look. Classic fool wrapper.

Biting into one of these Hershey’s Caramel Cookie Layer Crunch bars, my suspicions were confirmed – these were almost, but not quite, a Twix. Like a Twix, these bars represent a delicious combo of cookie, chocolate, and caramel.

The big difference, however, is that these bars focus more on the chocolate (unsurprising) and less of the cookie. While the shortbread cookie pieces provide a decent Crunch, this lacks the strong thick crunch of the cookie in a Twix. Conversely, however, this bar had a greater ratio of chocolate that was of a better quality. You could tell the chocolate here was of a milkier and finer quality than that coating a Twix.

In the end, it’s really just about what you prefer – want more cookie? Eat a Twix. Wish that same combo was more chocolatey? Go for these.
