Review (x2): Milka Oreo Chocolate Candy Bar, Milka Oreo Big Crunch Bar, The Nosh Show Ep.92, I’M SICK OF PUMPKIN BEER, SUGGEST SOMETHING ELSE
JFG Nation, sorry this post wasn’t up sooner – I’m at a work conference, was there all day today, and will be there all day tomorrow. When work beckons, my ability to talk about chocolate decreases. It’s just the awful way of the world, I guess.
Before we move onto to the review, I have a confession to make: it’s Fall, and even after Halloween, Pumpkin Beer is still a thing to drink all the way up until Thanksgiving. Winter Lagers are still a little early to be out, so all you can find at beer stores is varieties of pumpkin beer. WELL I AM SICK OF PUMPKIN BEER. As someone who enjoys pumpkin things, I draw the line at beer – or cocktails, generally. I like to eat pumpkin bread. I do not need pumpkin liqueur martinis.
SO. I’m looking for a new Fall drink. It could be a beer, it could be a cocktail. Gimme something else to consume this Fall – apple flavors, ciders, whatever. JUST NO PUMPKIN. Shout it out in the comments below.

Today’s review (x2): Milka Oreo Chocolate Candy Bar, Milka Oreo Big Crunch Bar!!
JFG Nation, over the weekend I came home to find a box waiting for me from Oreo that had this one the sides of the box:
What could this be? Would it be the Peeps Oreos? The Chocolate Covered Strawberry Oreos? The coffee-flavored Oreos Marvo is hoping for?
I opened the box and found:
Wait, what? What are these? Oreo candy bars??? I vaguely remember seeing these in the internal section of my local Wegmans, or at World Market – but apparently, they are going to be sold HERE in the US! Not as a novelty foreign imported item, but as part of the normal product line. Here’s the market speak:
“For the first time ever, OREO is entering the candy aisle in the U.S.! We’re excited to share the release of two new OREO Chocolate Candy Bar innovations rolling out nationwide starting November 14, the Milka OREO Big Crunch Bar and the Milka OREO Chocolate Candy Bar. Both chocolatey treats combine smooth European milk chocolate with the signature OREO cookie and creme taste, bringing together two of the world’s most delicious treats: OREO cookies and chocolate!”
These candy bars looked good – REAL good. By the way, the Big Crunch Bar iss 10.5 oz. That’s a big ass candy bar, my friends. It’s like a foot long.
Here’s a clearer picture of the two bars side by side. So what actually ARE these two separate candy bars? Here’s the promo language below:
For those of you who believe pictures should be seen and not read, here’s the written descriptions:
- “The Milka OREO Big Crunch Chocolate Candy Bar is a layer of crunchy OREO cookies between two layers of rich vanilla creme filling, coated in European Milka chocolate candy. It will be available in one 10.5 oz. sharing size tablet at a suggested retail price of $4.99. The new candy bar will roll out in limited quantities nationwide starting the week of November 14 with full distribution by January 2017.
- “The Milka OREO Chocolate Candy Bar is composed of delicious bits of OREO cookie mixed in rich vanilla crème filling coated in European Milka chocolate candy. It will be available in three sizes: 1.44 oz. at a suggested retail price of $0.98, 2.88 oz. at a suggested retail price of $1.69 and 3.52 oz. at a suggested retail price of $1.79. The new candy bar will roll out in January 2017.”
So let’s get to reviewin’. First: The Milka Oreo Chocolate Candy Bar!
The inside of the Milka OREO Chocolate Candy Bar reminded me a lot of the Hershey’s Cookies ‘n Creme Bar, but with larger “cookie” pieces. The vanilla creme filling was very pronounced, and not covered up by the smooth Milka Chocolate. Biting into the bar and chewing, my mouth was FILLED with cookies ‘n creme flavor. I thought maybe the smooth chocolate would mask the cookies ‘n creme flavor but no – if anything, the chocolate flavor melded with the cookie pieces to produce a sweet cookie taste, NOT a separate distinct flavor. Decent crunch, but I would’ve liked to see MORE cookie – more Oreo cookie is always a good thing. The cookie piece ratio here was just OK. This bar tasted really good, but wasn’t breaking any new ground for me. I’d buy it again, but it didn’t knock any of my favorites off the list like Twix or Take 5.
Second: The Milka OREO Big Crunch Chocolate Candy Bar!!
Ok, NOW We’re talking. Unlike the previous smaller bar, this Big Crunch bar did exactly what I wanted – it LOADED the insides of the candy bar with TONS of Oreo Cookie. The heavy cookie ratio pushed this particular treat out of the “cookies ‘n creme” candy bar into a chocolate covered Oreo bar. I hope that makes sense. When I took a big mouthful of this car and chewed, I got TONS of Oreo flavor, with no apologies. The Oreo cookie was at the forefront, with the vanilla creme and chocolate helping to round out the sweet flavor. This tasted like a COOKIE bar – great crunch, great Oreo cookie flavor, and nothing like Id had before. This was really really good. BUY THIS ONE ALL DAY LONG.
Thanks again to Oreo for letting me try these Milka bars! Now, who wants to help me finish off these chocolates? There’s so much…
PURCHASED AT: Sent to me, available TODAY in stores…some stores…I dunno what stores.
COST: $5 for the Big Crunch, and anywhere from $1 – $2 for the Chocolate Candy Bar, depending on the size.
Sincerely,
The JFG

Hot apple cider with butterscotch schnapps. You will not be disappointed.
I remember enjoying cold apple cider with vodka back in the day.
Sonoma Anvil–it’s a blend of cider and bourbon. The hatchet (apple) and the pitchfork (pear) flavors are good, too, but nothing beats the anvil.
I’ve mostly been drinking Ballast Point’s Cinnamon Raisin Commodore stout and some local chocolate milk stouts. Well, those and the smokiest scotches I can get my hands on. Wild Turkey Honey was also good in a little apple cider.
I’ve seen the Milka name on my trips to Europe.
I had a coffee flavored stout over the weekend. It’s not bad! I saw someone drinking a cranberry flavored ale.
That big crunch bar looks delicious!
And I have to plug one of my favorite hard ciders – Bold Rock IPA (IPA as in India Pressed Apples – probably just to trick traditional IPA lovers into buying it)
Are they making coffee-flavored Oreos again? They had them around… 2000-ish? Very yummy.
Abita pecan pie soda from Louisiana but you can find it at World Market.
Gotta warn y’all, while it is tasty soda (but not as good as their root beer), it doesn’t taste much like pecan or pie. People tell me it’s like chocolate soda from the 60’s. Not a Yoohoo but an artificial “sorta-like” chocolate flavor similar to hard candy that’s “chocolate” flavored.
send some of that chocolate my way!!!
A local European market near me carries these. Delicious. I got the larger size one and wow, Oreos galore!
I found the candy bar version at Walgreens recently but not sure where in Northern California will have the big crunch bar. Will keep my eyes peeled though because reviews have been lit!!
The Milka Oreo Big Crunch Bar was a disappointment for me. It has a nice crunch to it, but I struggle to find the oreo flavor. The milk chocolate overpowers it. I won’t buy this again.
