Review: Reese’s Stuffed With Pieces, Nosh Show Ep.82, & Turn UP the AC?
Good morning JFG Nation. Thanks to everyone who answered my soda ice question last Friday. Most agreed my co-worker was crazy but there is a possibility that regional bias played a part; one reader agreed with my co-worker, and they were/are both from the Carolinas. Maybe it’s a thing down there.
I was reminded of ANOTHER weird co-worker interaction that I had recently. It’s over 100 degrees here in DC, and AC is a way of life. I had this talk with another colleague of mine:
Her: “It’s going to be sweltering this weekend.”
JFG: “Ugh I know.”
Her: “I need to make sure I turn down the AC.”
JFG: “Yeah me to…..wait, what?”
Her: “I need to turn down the AC.”
JFG: “….you mean turn it up.”
Her: “Why would I turn it up? That makes it warmer!”
JFG: “What in holy hell are you talking about?”
Her: “I turn down the AC to bring the temperature down.”
JFG: <head exploding>
In her brain, turning down the AC meant bringing “down” the degrees in a room – whereas for me, turning “down” means lowering the AC output, making it warmer. I know, I thought she lived in a Bizarro would, except this isn’t the first time I’ve heard this. What do YOU guys say? Turn up to make it colder? Or “turn up” makes it warmer? Reese’s Stuffed With Pieces: The Money Shot
Reese’s Stuffed With Pieces were discussed on the Nosh Show, and now they exist in both regular and Big Cup form. They had been seen in Family Dollar stores in the South, and I found them at a random gas station in Maryland. Not Walmart, not Target, but a gas station.
Reese’s Stuffed With Pieces, based on my research, have the same amount of calories are the regular versions, whether regular or Big Cup version. 110 per regular cup, 200 per Big Cup. In other news, Jeez Louise. 200?? Oof.

Reese’s Stuffed With Pieces – cross section view. At first glance, there weren’t many full-on candy pieces showing. You can see the crushed candy shells here and there, but nothing blatant or obviously visible.
Ah there we go – after another bite of the Big Cup Reese’s Stuffed With Pieces, I could see more candy pieces exposed. I felt like I was digging for fossils with my tongue.
Taste wise, the only difference between these and regular Reese’s Cups were a tiny bit of candy crunch…which I enjoyed! But seriously – there was virtually no difference in flavor. The chocolate to PB ratios were the same, so the flavors were the same – the regular cup was more chocolate-y and the Big Cup was more peanut butter-y. I guess the only real difference was that obviously the Big Cup could hold more candy pieces, so the candy crunch there was more noticeable. If you want to get the true “stuffed” experience, go for the Big Cup.
Yeah, fun idea. Nothing mind blowing, personally. These were good because Reese’s peanut butter cups are good. Plain and simple.

I always say up our down based on the temp. So, if ac is set to 75 and I turn it to 72, I turned it down. More concerned about the meaning of the word moare.
Oh cripes. Of course it’s “turn it up”! Crank up, turn up the AC. Turning it down meaning lowering the speed, output, etc.
I’m sensing some cookie fatigue….

On the AC, that woman is a moron, period, stop.
And those won the ‘most innovative’ award at the candy show. Are we entering a candy dark ages if this is the ‘most innovative’ thing going on?
When I want to add more AC I say turn it up
From living in Georgia for 20 years most everybody says:
1. Turn up the AC to decrease the temperature
2. Turn down the AC to increase the temperate. But most people don’t say turned down .. It’s the south after all 🙂
To be honest, I’ve never thought about what I say. Mostly it’s either “turn on the AC” or turn it off. If it’s too cold, I say it’s too cold or not cold enough. I don’t think I’ve ever said to turn it down or turn it off!
And the Reese’s Stuffed with Pieces, I found them in the Speedway gas station in Indianapolis. Interesting choice of market.
So I guess the next question is, how many people go into the gas convenience store to buy snacks or items? I rarely go in since I pay at the pump.
Im with Ryan. I live in Florida and we just say “turn it down” to make it colder. If its on 75 and you’re still warm, turn it down to 73 so you’ll be cooler. When you’re freezing, we say “turn it up” as in, raise the temp so I can thaw out!
But I do see your logic. Its just not what I’m used to.
It’s turn up the A/C to decrease the temperature (turning up the cold air blast).
She is probably thinking of turning down the heat/thermostat.
In some homes, you set the temperature via the thermostat to whatever your ideal is. If you want a cooler home, you set the thermostat to be lower (down), which would trigger the A/C to turn up if it is not at the desired temp. yet.
I turn the AC down if I want it colder, as in turning down the thermostat from 78 to 76.
Reese’s cups filled with Reese’s pieces seems like cookies & cream Oreos: why bother?
I’m anxiously waiting for these to show up here. I love the crunchy big cups and prefer them over the regular ones.
