Today’s junk food: Simply Tostitos Black Bean Chips!!

Simply Tostitos Black Bean Chips: The Money Shot

I’ve eaten a lot of tortilla chips in my day, every day. So I know a good chip from the look of the bag. Black bean? Check. Sunflower oil? Check. I wasn’t sure if these Simply Tostitos Black Bean Chips were new but I didn’t care. Into the cart they went.

Opening the bag, there was a definite black bean aroma, plus a hint of cumin. I crunched a few – because the chip itself is made of black beans, it didn’t have the same crunch as a normal tortilla chip. It sort of crumbled apart, similar to other bean chips I’ve eaten. There was a nice crispy snap, but not a great CRUNCH.

If you can get over that, however, the flavor of these were pretty good! Nice and bean-y, these chips also had lots of cumin and cilantro notes, with plenty of garlic and onion to balance the savoriness. They weren’t flavored per se, so if you’re looking for a flavored chip you’ll find these bland. However for a standalone tortilla chip, these had something extra taste-wise for sure.

Super light with good flavor. What else can I say? Thumbs up. Eat with salsa or queso.
