MICRO-REVIEW: New Nabisco Garlic & Herb Chickpea Good Thins & Where Should I Eat in Vegas?

JFG Nation, like last year, I’m off to Vegas for the first round of March Madness next week. And I’m looking to crowdsource some dining suggestions! But what I’m really looking for are specific eats, not just general suggestions to eat at huge restaurants.  For example, I’m already looking to do the tasting menu of artisanal hams at Herringbone. I am DETERMINED to find the Secret Pizza in the Cosmopolitan.

What else, JFG Nation? Any place YOU’VE been to recently that I should try? Let me know in the comments below.

Today’s junk food: New Nabisco Garlic & Herb Chickpea Good Thins!!

Right off the bat: I liked these better than the Veggie Thins I reviewed earlier this week. These Chickpea Good Thins at least LOOKED like Wheat Thins, in shape, size, and seasoning appearance. But that’s where the similarities end with these New Nabisco Garlic & Herb Chickpea Good Thins. Because, to be honest, even though I liked these better than the Veggie Good Thins, I really didn’t like them that much.

When I opened the box, they smelled good! Garlic, savory, almost an instant noodle aroma. Then I popped one into my mouth – while it looks like a Wheat Thin, it’s MUCH lighter. It’s crispier because it’s lighter, but the chickpea flour sort of disintegrates in your mouth as you chew. It’s like airy Wheat Thins that, if you didn’t know better, felt a bit stale. The flavor was ok, I guess – decent on the garlic flavor but because there wasn’t a lot of dough to hang onto, the flavor doesn’t really impact you that much. Plus DRYYYYYYYYYYY.

All in all, these weren’t HORRIBLE, but I’m not sure what they satisfy. Sure, I could eat the whole box robotically, but I’d have to eat twice the amount of these as Wheat Thins to feel full. These might be healthier, but I’m not sure what real alternative these provide. Plus, it’s not gluten free – still contains wheat.

Yeah, I dunno. These were fine, but I am not eating/buy them again. Sorry, Nabisco.

try EAT for breakfast. They have a small menu but it is a great place with tasty food. I love their toast fresh cut and thick. Can’t wait to go back and try their deep fried deviled eggs

Is it too touristy to suggest dining at Serendipity in Vegas? I also recommend Le Cirque.

Might I recommend Mandalay Burger Bar?
Highly recommend for a great beer list and build your own quality burger. This one started that trend in that city.

Downtown (not the strip) has a lot of great options, that’s where EAT is. Secret Pizza is overrated. If you want good pizza, check out Pizza Rock (also happens to be downtown).

Lotus of Siam on Sahara. Nam Prik Ong, Pad Se Ew, Nua Sao Renu..

That’s assuming you enjoy Thai food.

  6. Nolamom says:

Look for the pool table and follow the hall decorated with record album covers to find the secret pizza.
