MICRO-REVIEW: Limited Edition Planters S’mores & Nut Mix
Today’s junk food: Limited Edition Planters S’mores & Nut Mix!!
Limited Edition Planters S’mores & Nut Mix was sent to me, and the PR sheet says, “a sweet and salty spin on the classic s’mores campfire treat! Provides four grams of protein per three tablespoon serving.” Well, alrighty then. When I opened up this bag of Limited Edition Planters S’mores & Nut Mix, I smelled chocolate, nuts, and a hint of marshmallow. Dumping a handful out into my hand, I could see all the individual parts, and decided to try them separately first. The roasted peanuts tasted normal, maybe even a little raw – there was no salt on them and I didn’t get any particular roasted flavor. The cocoa almonds were coated in cocoa and really tasty – slightly sweet with a nice dark cocoa flavor and plenty crunchy. The chocolate candies were interesting – they had a candy outer shell and tasted a lot like dark chocolate M&M’s, but were shaped like chocolate chips. Weird. The marshmallow pieces were the most interesting; they had a chewy consistency that reminded me of cookie dough pieces. The texture was very unexpected; despite these being essentially dehydrated marshmallows, these didn’t have a dry chalky texture like Lucky Charms marshmallows. Full of marshmallow flavor. And the yogurt graham pieces were sort of nondescript – not too sweet, light and crispy, but not a lot of graham flavor. Bascially as I chewed hem, they dissolved into yogurt cracker dust.
I’m a huge fan of trail mix, so eaten all together this had good flavor. Sure it didn’t taste EXACTLY like a S’more, but I like where Planters’ head is with this – a nut mix that gives you hints of s’more with its chocolate marshmallow combo but still gives you the hearty nut taste you expect. If I had one change – maybe just more graham flavor in general? An improvement on the graham pieces? That’s what I’d like.
Otherwise, if you’re a fan of trail mix, you’ll like this.
PURCHASED AT: Sent to me, but I’ve seen it in Walgreens, Target, Walmart, etc.

I don’t get why they have to cover the graham with “yogurt”? Also it would be better to have some of the marshmallows to have toasted flavor.
Probably keeps the graham from getting stale (?). Squishy stale graham crackers..ugh. They could have gone with chocolate, though. Then again everyone’s supposedly crazy for yogurt nowadays.
*sits back and waits for comments from people that intentionally let their graham crackers get stale and soft so they can ball them up and eat them that way*
@Dana: *gagging a little bit at thought of stale graham crackers*
@Alek: Agree
Anything S’Mores, I’m in but disappointed they didn’t taste like the concoction.
I am hoping those weren’t dried fruit in the picture.
@MarcP: No dried fruit was used to taint this mix 😉

These were AMAZING! So sad they were limited edition.
LOVE THIS…EVERYONE HERE AT WORK ALSO ENJOYS THIS
TRAILMIX. I WISH I COULD FIND IT AGAIN. BETTER THAN THE
BEST…GOOD JOB!!!
I bought 2 bags and brought them to work and the girls LOVED it. The fact that there was no dry fruit made even better. Does anyone know if this is still being sold anywhere in southern NJ? I haven’t seen it lately and I would love to buy more.
