Junk Food Nation, MORE STORIES!  Let’s get to them.  As usual, if you have a comment on anything, TELL ME IN THE COMMENTS.  I love talking.

1. Jose Canseco, the beloved baseball pariah, recently made the news because he shot himself in the left hand as he was cleaning his gun.  Then he tweeted a picture of his injured hand – don’t worry, it’s wrapped in a bandage. But it sort of looks like he blew one of his fingers off.

Now look, I’ve shot a gun many times, but I’ll admit I’ve never owned or cleaned a gun. BUT I HAVE TO IMAGINE part of cleaning a gun is unloading it.  PLEASE, gun people, tell me I’m wrong.  But if for some reason you’re using a bristle brush to clean out the barrel, I’m GUESSING you try to not have ONE IN THE CHAMBER.  Jose Canseco, WTH you maniac.

2. The current Youtube video I can’t stop watching.  It’s such a great video and gets even better at the 3:30 mark. Out of the 7+ million hits this video has, I’ve contributed a good 40-50 of them:

3. Congrats to the SF Giants for winning the World Series and keeping Game 7 under four hours!  Seriously, early on when they went to the bullpen in the 2nd inning, i like UGH YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME.  But things go quickly when Madison Bumgarner is mowing people down. Now stop burning down the city, SF-ers…act like you’ve been there before because, well, you have.

4. The plot for the new Terminator has been revealed, and if you’re a nerdy fanboy like me, you’re going to want to Rage Against the Machine.  It’s awful. I can’t even talk about this anymore. I’ll just say: “Sarah Connor raised by a T-800.” OK, I need to stop and throw up somewhere.

Today’s junk food: New Ghirardelli Cinnamon Crunch Squares!

I don’t really review much “gourmet” chocolate because, well, once you get started down that rabbit hole it’s hard to get out.  My Walgreens alone has like 30 different varieties, and then there’s Lindt and etc etc etc.  I’ve actually only review Ghirardelli once on this blow, I think. And I’ve visited Ghirardelli Square in SF before – wasn’t quite the Willy Wonka factory I wanted it to be, but it was cool. You should go, if SF-ers haven’t burned it down. AGAIN, STOP BURNING COUCHES YOU MORONS.

New Ghirardelli Cinnamon Crunch Squares jumped out at me because I couldn’t, off hand, remember another chocolate I’d had which mixed cinnamon in it. This looked like a mix between a white confection, a chocolate, and a stick of cinnamon.  Gimme.

New Ghirardelli Cinnamon Crunch Squares, I’m hoping, taste just like Mexican hot chocolate.  That’s a thing, people, I’m not just being racist. Anyways, if it DOES taste like that, then THAT would give me “moments of timeless pleasure.”  Pleasure I could have in public!  Hurray!

As soon as I opened one of these New Ghirardelli Cinnamon Crunch Squares, I could IMMEDIATELY smell the cinnamon. AND the chocolate. It did indeed smell like a Mexican hot chocolate.  I love the way these looked too – just liked the photo on the bag depicted, it reflected the bits of cinnamon and pepper seeded throughout.

One bite of these New Ghirardelli Cinnamon Crunch Squares and I was pretty pleased. The first flavor I got was of the chocolate, as the white confection and the milk chocolate mixed into a sweet and creamy …sort of like when you drink hot chocolate that has a lot of milk in it.  Then the little textural crunches emerged (very slight, but noticeable) and the cinnamon and SLIGHT slight pepperiness came out, spicing the flavor of the chocolate nicely.  This is NOT red hot cinnamon – it was just a tiny bit of added spice that made these chocolates taste just like a Mexican hot chocolate. Holy cow. I loved these.

There’s not much else to say. I thought this combo flavor was excellent. Thumbs up, Ghirardelli.
