Review: Limited Edition Pumpkin Spice Nestle Tollhouse Morsels & Audience Participation: What New Fall TV Show Are You Going To Watch?

Junk Food Nation,it’s that time of year again when the summer TV series wrap up and the new Fall TV lineup is here! I know that with Netflix, Hulu, and cable, the debut of new shows no longer fits a set schedule. But network TV (we’re talking ABC, NBC, CBS, etc.) still follows some schedules, and one is the fall TV lineup.

Starting last night, new shows will begin debuting each day for the next few weeks.  There’s almost TOO MANY to watch.  Admission: my TV watching patterns are all over the place.  Right now, all I’m watching is “Under the Dome” and “Top Chef: Duels.” Yes, you can judge me.

So I need a new show, and I want to know what YOU’RE looking forward to?  Junk Food Gal was all excited from “Madam Secretary” last night on CBS, but I was totally uninterested.

I’m looking forward to “Gotham” on FOX, but that’s about it.

But the truth is, the reason I’m not excited about more shows is because I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IS COMING OUT.

So help me out, Junk food Nation.  In the comments below, recommend a new show for me to watch.  A NEW show that YOU are excited to watch that is coming soon.  Don’t tell me to go back and watch Breaking Bad, is what I’m saying.  I want to get in on the ground floor here.  Tell me what’s good, people.

Today’s junk food: Limited Edition Pumpkin Spice Nestle Tollhouse Morsels!

Limited Edition Pumpkin Spice Nestle Tollhouse Morsels: The Money Shot

With the deluge of pumpkin spice items that hit the market at the end of August, I was mentally exhausted from walking through the grocery store. SO MUCH PUMPKIN EVERYWHERE.  Despite being one of my favorite flavors, I was not super thrilled to try any of it, Pumpkin Spice Oreos aside.  On this blog, I’ve been semi-conservative, trying not to buy into trying EVERY SINGLE NEW PUMPKIN OR APPLE OR FALL-RELATED ITEM out there.

But then came Limited Edition Pumpkin Spice Nestle Tollhouse Morsels. Crap.

Limited Edition Pumpkin Spice Nestle Tollhouse Morsels: Basket of morsels

I knew I had to buy these Limited Edition Pumpkin Spice Nestle Tollhouse Morsels, because I wanted to see if all that pumpkin spice goodness COULD be translated into something as small as a chocolate chip.

Limited Edition Pumpkin Spice Nestle Tollhouse Morsels: But how many chips in a serving?

Limited Edition Pumpkin Spice Nestle Tollhouse Morsels are NOT chocolate chips of course, but are a pumpkin-y confection made of milk.  Perfect for baking into chocolate chip cookies?  I think so.  Imagine just taking some of these morsels and shaking them on top of just some plain ol Pillsbury break-apart cookies?  Yumzers.

Limited Edition Pumpkin Spice Nestle Tollhouse Morsels: Like yellow/orange chocolate chips

Limited Edition Pumpkin Spice Nestle Tollhouse Morsels are yellow/orange in color, and as soon as I opened the bag and stuck my nose in, I could smell the sweet sweet smell of pumpkin. Not so much cinnamon or spice….but pure pumpkin aroma punched my in the nose.

Limited Edition Pumpkin Spice Nestle Tollhouse Morsels: Perfect shapes

I shook a few Limited Edition Pumpkin Spice Nestle Tollhouse Morsels into my palm, and tipped them back into my mouth…BAM!  Pumpkin spice flavor through and through. REALLY sweet, but the flavor profile was loud and clear.  Pumpkin, with a definite kick of cinnamon and spice that came through more as I chewed (more on the back end aftertaste).  The underlying milky confection was plenty sweet; this essentially tasted like a solid form of pumpkin spiced cream or milk.  Really good – and almost TOO bold of a flavor to be eating the chips alone.

These were begging to be put into chocolate chip cookies to help mute the almost-too-sweet flavor of the morsels.  I may have to do this later. If you’re a baker and wondering if these will impart the pumpkin flavor you’re looking for, I’d say thumbs up.

PURCHASED AT: Target, Germantown, MD.

COST: $2.99

i tried these in a muffin last night and didn’t really like them. i’m thinking they would probably be a lot better in a cookie!

  2. MP says:

It seems like these pumpkin spice products don’t have any actual pumpkin in them. Just a vehicle for cinnamon.

  3. Devin says:

This is actually looking to be a pretty crappy season as far as new shows go. I watch a lot of TV, but I’m not too excited for mosf of the new stuff I’ve seen previews for. Like you, Gotham is probably at the top of my new show watch list, but I’m still not super excited to watch it like I’ve been for other new shows in the past.

If I was going to recommend a show to you, it’d probably be How to Get Away with Murder. It’s about law school students getting caught up in some murder plot with their professor. I figure you could watch and tell us just how similar it is to your law school experience, because I’m sure you got caught up in a murder plot or two. 🙂

@Devin: You know, I was high on Gotham but after two episodes I’m sort of MEH. And as far How to Get away with Murder, I thought I’d hate it – but I actually REALLY liked the pilot! Good read on both, Devin.

  4. Brenda says:

    Outlander on Starz — AWESOME!

  5. NFL Network’s probably got the most drama on it.

  6. Bioterror says:

More people need to watch American Horror Story! The great thing about it is that you don’t need to watch the previous seasons in any particular order since each season is a completely different story, just with the same actors. Its awesome, perfect for October! >w<

    • junkfoodguy says:

@Bioterror – Yeah I do like how they use the same actors to tell a totally different storyline each season. They should do this with more shows! Cool concept.

  7. Lovy says:

American Horror Story. For the win.

  8. Sparky says:

I actually made one of the recipes on the back of the bag, the molasses cookies that calls for actual pumpkin. I never use canned pumpkin btw, so with fresh pumpkin at least they were really good. I made them for a party and they disappeared.

  9. jamie says:

I’m thinking of trying the morsels mixed into a chocolate based cookie. I love chocolate and pumpkin together. Haven’t opened the bag yet. Need ideas for a Thanksgiving dessert competition. Only 3 recipes on the Toll House site for this product.

  10. Wilma says:

I am very disappointed that they are hard to find in stores, and I also think they should be around until after Christmas . I have been to a lot of stores and can’t find them.

  11. Momofsix says:

Made these in a pumpkin cookie. They were great, though the chips didn’t melt
