Review: Talenti Caribbean Coconut Gelato & Struck By Lightning & Survive? = SUPERHERO
Junk Food Nation, a woman was struck on the Fourth of July by lightning. Not only was she struck by lightning, but she LIVED. But NOT ONLY did she LIVE, but she was PREGNANT…and they quickly rushed her to the hospital where they performed an emergency C-Section…AND THE BABY LIVED TOO!
Thankfully everyone is fine…but is anyone else thinking what I’m thinking? THIS BABY IS NOW A SUPERHERO! Someone get the villain from Unbreakable down here… as a former comic nerd, I know that superheroes on Earth always have crazy origin stories. Getting injected with Super Soldier formula. Being doused with gamma rays. Flying a space mission and getting caught in cosmic radiation. Being bitten by a radioactive spider. What BETTER origin story can you have than BEING STRUCK BY LIGHTNING ON THE FOURTH OF JULY WHILE IN THE WOMB AND SURVIVING???
Everyone needs to keep a VERY close eye on this baby. Once baby Kimberly starts levitating and moving sh*t with her mind at age 2, we’ll need to give her a bulletproof costume and start telling her which countries have nuclear stockpiles that need disarming.
Today’s junk food: Talenti Caribbean Coconut Gelato!
Look, I’ve already raved about Talenti enough on this blog, I think. It’s the best. THE BEST. Everything I’ve had of Talenti’s has been good. If you want to see more of my opinions about Talenti, read here, here, and here. All YOU need to know is that Talenti is AWESOME, but sort of pricey (usually around $5), so anytime it is on sale, I have to buy some…which is what happened with this Talenti Caribbean Coconut Gelato.
Okay OKAY, laugh all you want, I couldn’t resist eating a LOT of this Talenti Caribbean Coconut Gelato before I managed to yank the cold spoon out of my gaping maw and put it down to take photos. SORRY. I’m telling you, I LOVE TALENTI.
Talenti Caribbean Coconut Gelato was just delicious. JUST DELICIOUS. In short, it tasted like the frozen insides of a Mounds or Almond Joy candy bar. Frozen coconut awesome.
To put it more descriptively: The spoon sliced through the gelato with ease; Talenti is still one of the smoothest gelatos I’ve had. The first taste I got was definite coconut – light and sweet and milky. It mixed with the general vanilla flavor of the gelato well. But as the gelato melted in my mouth, I noticed that there were tiny chewy bits of coconut throughout the spoonful, though unable to be detected readily by eye. THAT’S the aspect that made it taste like frozen Mounds filling.
Even if you don’t like coconut, I think you’ll enjoy this gelato. REALLY good offering by Talenti here. Done right, and rightly done.

“Even if you don’t like coconut, I think you’ll enjoy this gelato.” Why do I feel like this was a shot at me?;]
@Nick: BANG!
@Eric: I was actually considering picking this one up because a store I was in was clearancing them. I just couldn’t bring myself to do it. That said, I’ve enjoyed two coconut milk based ice creams so i think I might be coming around to the whole coconut thing. Only time will tell.
So she’ll have some semi-lightning-related power (like the Flash? the Emperor?) and whatever powers Tom Cruise had in “Born on the Fourth of July”?
@Kahnfucius: I imagine some sort of mutant that can shoot lightning from her eyes and fingertips, like the Emperor, exactly.
Love this stuff! I’m really enjoying your blog. You’ve won over yet another fan! Liked you on facebook and I’ll be sharing with my friends! As for the lightning, I knew a guy in college that got struck by lightning and it improved his vision to better than 20/20-BUT he got amnesia. Bummer. Anyway, LOVE YOUR BLOG!
@Steph: STEPH! So glad you commented, and that you enjoy the blog! It’s been going for over two years now…and I still haven’t run out of things to eat or say 😉 Anyways, it’s so nice to hear from you!
Then you need to try their new pops. The chocolate covered coconut is like an Almond Joy w/o the almounds
@Juvi: GOtcha covered! http://junkfoodguy.com/2013/05/06/review-talenti-caribbean-coconut-gelato-pops-the-winner-of-a-case-of-cabo-chips-is/
I freaking love this gelato!!!!! It is amazingg. BUT i do not like the tiny coconut chewy bits in it. That’s the only problem. If they could fix that ASAP. Then I’ll definitely be a regular customer. Lol
@Carina – awh you didn’t like the coconut bits? I enjoy them 🙂 But you’re right, this gelato, overall, is awesome
