In other news, while most of the country has been discussing the Supreme Court, gay marriage, South Korea, and trying to finish their taxes all at the same time, I (while doing those same things) was also focused on the Miami Heat’s recent win streak…well, former win streak of 27 games. They were defeated last night as the went for 28 by the Bulls.
I was just discussing the Heat with a co-worker – I had actually fully expected that the Heat would break the record of 33 games straight. I did. Setting aside any feelings I had about LeBron, Wade, Bosh, etc., I had turned the corner and fully acknowledged that the Heat had the talent to go all the way. The main thing I questioned, however, was stamina. Playing at a high level to crush opponents each night was a tough task. I get exhausted and need a day to recover when I take a plane ride…and that’s it! These guys needed to win at home, win on the road, travel, work out. Normally when you see NBA games, some teams just loaf around. The Heat couldn’t. I was convinced if they DID lose, it’d be on the road, on short rest.
I THOUGHT it was going to be the Boston game, having just playing the night before in a different city. But no. Still, the cracks were showing. The constant needing to come back in the 3rd and 4th quarters. The overtime games and wins on buzzer beaters. It was only a matter of time. Last night was that time.
Still, I would’ve like to see the streak broken. I enjoy watching greatness. Next time, I guess. All this means is LeBron and Co. can finally rest and then bludgeon everyone towards another ring. Sigh.
Today’s junk food: New Honey Mustard Wheat Thins, New Chili Cheese Wheat Thins!
I first was notified about these New Honey Mustard Wheat Thins and New Chili Cheese Wheat Thins by The Impulsive Buy and the Junk Food Dog and I think maybe even King Rhino. Still, I love Wheat Thins, because when they get their flavors right, these crackers are spectacular. Small, baked, wheaty, crunchy, and semi-sweet…just a delicious cracker through and through. It’s not a secret that their Spicy Buffalo flavor is one of my favorite crackers OF ALL TIME.
And now, Wheat Thins is expanding again – Honey Mustard and Chili Cheese. Let’s get right to it:
As expected, these New Honey Mustard Wheat Thins were spot on delicious. Ever have Snyder’s Honey Mustard Pretzel Bites? These were very similar. Really heavy, sweet, savory honey mustard flavor. A nice onion-y taste that gave the whole mustard flavor a nice base to cling to. And a nice biting aftertaste which I can only assume is from the vinegar that is typically in mustard. REALLY EXCELLENT. Exactly what I wanted from a honey mustard cracker. If you like honey mustard, you will really REALLY enjoy these.
NEXT: New Chili Cheese Wheat Thins!
These New Chili Cheese Wheat Thins were …..ok. Very tasty to be sure. But definitely not as impactful as the Honey Mustard variety.
The problem with these New Chili Cheese Wheat Thins was that the flavor powder wasn’t strong enough. As I chewed, I got a hint of tomato powder, a bit of chili powder, some creaminess, and some light cheese flavor. But, to me, it certainly didn’t taste like chili cheese…as I would’ve dreamed it. Instead, it sort of tasted like a light ranch flavor with some chili powder.
UPDATE 6:59pm: Eating several in a row, you DO get a slight chili burn. For the weak tongue, I could see these being taken as spicy. For me, it was mild.
Not a bad flavor, to be sure…but there wasn’t enough of it.
The Junk Food Gal put it best, “The sweet taste of the Wheat Thin overpowers the flavor.” Very true – these were not dusted enough. Decent cracker, not executed well. And trust me – I’m not someone who NEEDS super coatings of powder – sometimes that grosses me out. But this balance was just off.
RECAP: Honey Mustard – BIG THUMBS UP. Chili Cheese – Eh, it’s alright.
GO FORTH AND EAT!
PURCHASED AT: Walmart
COST: $2.50 per box

I totally agree with you. Loved the Honey Mustard and devoured a box within 24 hours. It took me three days to get through the Chili Cheese.
@Marvo: That Honey Mustard flavor was delightful
I used to LOVE the honey mustard crackers, but the past couple of months they have been terrible! Something changed in the past couple of months because every box I purchase, the crackers are gummy, gritty, and in one box there was a massive clump the size of a small fist. It was disgusting and I couldn’t even finish the box. It’s a bummer because it was my all-time favorite flavor.
@HoneyMunster – OH NO! You should write Nabisco and let them know. Inconsistency is unacceptable!
I LOVE the chili cheese wheat thins, but cant seem to find them anywhr — ???
