Junk Food Nation, I’m still recovering a bit from the weekend’s events, and on top of it all, I have a trial today, so let’s get right to it.  I love Pretzel Crisps.  I’ve reviewed them a few times on this blog, and I haven’t been disappointed yet.  While at Target, I stumbled across a couple of new flavors.  One was this:

Dark Chocolate Crunch Pretzel Crisps: The Money Shot

I opted not to buy these, because I’d had chocolate covered pretzels before. This flavor hasn’t shown up on their website quite yet, but I’m sure it’ll be there soon.  Still, I like the Pretzel Crisps is adding more confection covered pretzels.  I’ll buy ’em every time.

Instead, I opted to buy today’s junk food: Snack Factory Mint Chocolate Crunch Pretzel Crisps!

Snack Factory Mint Chocolate Crunch Pretzel Crisps seemed too good to pass up.  First, just the flavor itself, chocolate mint covered pretzels??  Sign me up.  Second, the way these looked intrigued me… minty coating with little chocolate crunchies? Really really interesting…

It’s not often that a pretzel treat not only has a coating, but also has essentially little blobs of chocolate …chips?…pock-marking its surface.  These Snack Factory Mint Chocolate Crunch Pretzel Crisps were breaking new ground.

Ah Ok….these Snack Factory Mint Chocolate Crunch Pretzel Crisps are covered with cookie chips.  Like, little balls of Oreo-like substance.  Got it.  Adds to the crunch – I’m pickin’ up what you’re puttin’ down, Snack Factory.

Coating is the lead ingredient??

Snack Factory Mint Chocolate Crunch Pretzel Crisps apparently have more coating than they do pretzel.  That’s either slightly disconcerting, or very awesome.  Haven’t decided.

WHAT THE

When I opened the bag of these Snack Factory Mint Chocolate Crunch Pretzel Crisps, an amazing minty chocolatey smell came pouring out.  Of course, I was shocked when I saw what the crisps looked like…nothing like on the bag!  Most of the chocolate crumbles had fallen off of the crisps, and the coating was a off-light-green color rather than the nice minty color shown on the front of the package. BOOOOO.

Of course, that momentary feeling of WTF in reaction to the Snack Factory Mint Chocolate Crunch Pretzel Crisps appearance dissipated once I ate one of these crisps.  Snack Factory, you’ve done it again.

The coating was creamy (almost buttery tasting), and full of white chocolate and mint flavor.  Very sweet, too.  The chocolate cookie crumbles added a bit of crunch and sweet bitterness to the snack – like the cookie part of an Oreo, it played off the creamy minty coating really well.  Together, the mint chocolate flavor was indulgent and full flavored.

But then you add to it the crunchy salty pretzel, and you have a GREAT snack.  The saltiness of the pretzel gave the whole thing a semi-sweet/savory flavor, and made the sweet minty coating pop that much more.  Really great combination.

All in all, another successful addition to the Pretzel Crisp name.  Good work, Snack Factory.  Keep ’em coming.
