Post-Birthday In Stores Now
Hey there, Junk Food Nation. Yesterday was my birthday, and thank you for all your birthday wishes. Some people asked what I bought myself for my birthday. The answer: a day off of work (today). Work has been crushing me of late, so this is a much needed break. So my apologies for the delay in today’s post. I woke up late, got a bagel, and took it easy.
Found in Safeway: Aligned with my love of generic brands, I can appreciate when local grocery stores get in the limited edition act – and why not? My local Safeway has a BUNCH of limited edition ice cream flavors. Pumpkin Pie and Peppermint starts it off…
Found in Safeway: My local grocery also has Spumoni and Egg Nog Limited Edition ice creams. I didn’t buy these, nor the previous two flavors because, honestly, I don’t need that much ice cream in my life. All these flavors look pretty good though, no? You go, Safeway.
Found in Safeway: This is the one Limited Edition Safeway flavor that tempted me: Gingerbread Cookie. Gingerbread is one of my favorite flavors…and I’m not sure if I’ve seen it in an ice cream before. Have you? Let me know in the comments below.
Found in Super Walmart: GRASSHOPPER PIE? Oh…chocolate mint. Got it. I do like minty chocolatey ice cream, so I bet this pretty good. On Second Scoop has a good review of this.
Found at Giant: I saw this on The Impulsive Buy’s blog first, and then saw it my person in person. I ask you all again…WHY IS THE PIE PINK???? That seriously weirds me out.
Found in Super Walmart: WHOA. Yoplait has a whole line of Greek Frozen Yogurt??? Why have I not seen or heard of these before??? On Second Scoop has some input on this… and I’m REALLY curious how the Raspberry Fig flavor is!
Found in Target: Reese Creme Pie? Heart attack in a box. I didn’t know Edwards was out to try and kill me via confection.
Found at Regular Walmart: These 3 Musketeers Minis looked interesting…. Hot Cocoa with Marshmallow flavor? But then I thought…don’t 3 Musketeers, with their chocolatey outside and nougat fluffy center ALREADY tasted like hot cocoa with marshallows? Is this just another example of re-branding something to trick you into thinking you’re buying something new? They must have learned from Pop-Tarts. BOOOO.
The Impulsive Buy has a good review of these.
Found at Regular Walmart: Yeah, at least mix it up and add some mint. Has anyone tried these yet? Do they taste JUST like a York Peppermint Patty? Because if so, I might need to stuff my face with these really soon.
Found at Target: Ok, Peppermint Marshmallows…I get it. Mint in a marshmallow to melt in your hot cocoa… but great for snacking? I dunno, not for me. Plus, are penguins especially minty? Something about the motif is off for me…
Found in Regular Walmart: Pumpkin Spice Mallows! Now THAT I can get behind. Although it is a bit funny to know that there’s a machine out there whose sole job it to cut tiny pumpkin shaped marshmallow pieces. ‘Cause that has so many uses. *cough*
Foodette has a great review of these.
Found in Regular Walmart: Gingerbread Mallows???? Now Kraft is just getting crazy. I get that they don’t want to miss out on the holiday buying frenzy, but are marshmallows something people REALLY NEED to be specially flavored in order to eat them? I find that most either like marshmallows, or they don’t. There’s not much grey area where someone will say, “Well, I normally hate these things, but GINGERBREAD??? Now I have to play chubby bunnies.”

I’ve got another post coming about two more non-greek yoplait flavors, neither one is a real winner though. It feels too much like they just froze their regular product.
also, those safeway designs are great, I love when companies have fun like that.
@Dubba: Ben and Jerry’s Frozen Greek substantially better?
yeah, B&J has better texture, but then we’re back to the whole tart thing
The raspberry fig one is the one I want to find the most. After having the black mission fig goat’s milk ice cream from La Loo’s I’ve been craving figs in frozen desserts.
@Nick: Fig and frozen dessert is a combo I’m really interested in trying
@JFG, my first review on On Second Scoop was that fig goat milk ice cream. http://www.onsecondscoop.com/2012/05/laloos-black-mission-fig-goats-milk-ice.html If you can get your hands on it I would recommend it.
I like the honey caramel yoplait:)
My mom’s a sucker for Rice Krispie treats and has made ones out of the Pumpkin and Gingerbread varieties in the past… Pumpkin is the absolute BEST.
@KF: WHOA. I had not contemplated that. GENIUS! Rice krispie treats made of the flavored marshmallows is amazing
I think there was (limited run) mint flavored 3 Musketeers bars–I thought it was good.
