Review: Simply 7 Jalapeno Lentil Chips & Pre-Thanksgiving Thoughts
Junk Food Nation, it’s the day before Thanksgiving, and the world is quiet. Many of you are traveling today, and I hope everyone stays safe out there. Taking the Metro into work today, it was eerily empty – no crowds, no fuss, just very empty. DC is one of those transient cities where, when people go home, they just vanish from the city.
Looking back on the past 1.5 years, I’m thankful for all the great companies out there who have worked with me, allowing me to promote and sample their goods. One such company is Simply 7 – they were the first to reach out and send me something. Thank you, Simply 7, for taking a chance on me.
So, in honor of that, today’s quick junk food review is Simply 7 Jalapeno Lentil Chips!
At this point, I’ve reviewed a LOT of Simply 7 products – from their various flavors of lentil chips to their most recently released pomegranate chips. Loved some, Meh on others. Simply 7 Jalapeno Lentil Chips are one of the flavors I haven’t tried yet. I do love jalapeno, though, so it’s a wonder I didn’t get to this sooner.

WOW…. these Simply 7 Jalapeno Lentil Chips were REALLY tasty. Like, REALLY tasty. Like, before I knew it, 1/3 of the bag was gone and I needed to stop eating them.
These lentil chips were puffy and crunchy – light like a Pop Chip, but thicker and crunchier, sort of like a pork rind. Somewhere in between. I dunno.
The flavor though was really savory. Just a good balance of flavors – as soon as I chewed, the flavor was creamy and very onion / garlicky. The taste of the green pepper gave the whole thing a tiny bit of a vegetable flair, and then the jalapeno spice and burn kicked in. To me, not very spicy at all, but just enough to tickle you taste buds. Plus, this is one of those snacks where if you eat several in a row, then the burn really emerges and the burn lasts on the tongue. Very good.
It wasn’t anything NEW I’d tasted before, but it was the kind of GOOD flavor that I want to taste MORE of. The spices weren’t overpowering, and everything was done right. This might be my favorite Simply 7 flavor yet. Good work!

“DC is one of those transient cities where, when people go home, they just vanish from the city.”
As opposed to other cities where, when people go home, their ghosts linger on to clog up roads and subways?
