Review: Lay’s Stax Que Rico Flamas & My Sheets Are Better Than Your Sheets
Junk Food Nation, as many of you know, I love to sleep. I mean, I love it. Sometimes, it’s all I can do not rush home and slip into unconsciousness. Am I running from my real life? In more ways than one, friends.
But honestly, I think the reason I love sleep so much is in large part due to the fact that I LOVE MY SHEETS. I have very very very soft flannel/jersey/T-shirt sheets. Not quite hardcore flannel sheets that feel like they’ve been woven from straw, and not regular cotton sheets. I have these amazing sheets that make me feel swaddled like a babe when I’m inside them. They make it extra difficult to get up in the morning.
What kind of sheets do you have? Do you own those super high thread count cotton sheets, the kind that make you feel like you’re slipping into a bowl of ice cream when you get in bed? Do you possess full blown silk sheets, the kind that make you feel like you’re sleeping on a slip n’ slide? Or are you a person who sleeps with no sheets (HEATHEN!)
Whatever the case, my sheets beat your sheets. I’ll duel anyone who says otherwise.
Today’s junk food: Lay’s Stax Que Rico Flamas!
Fan of this blog, Neil, told me about these Lay’s Stax Que Rico Flamas long ago…and I finally found them in my local Walmart. I have to say, I am sort of getting sick of the whole Flamas or Chile and Lime trend that has been happening lately. We get it, snack companies. You want more Latin flavors to be represented. Fine…now can we do something else?
Still, this is a Stax flavor, and I have been generally impressed with Stax of late…so let’s get right to it.
I popped the top and munched on these Lay’s Stax Que Rico Flamas and I have to say…they were OK. Just OK. I didn’t hate them – the chile and lime flavor was not overly sweet or artificial tasting as with other snacks. This did not taste like spicy Froot Loops. I’m thinking the addition of some cheese powder to help neutralize the lime and bring a more savory flavor to the whole thing was a good decision by Lay’s. Great crunch, standard potato processed taste, and decent spicy lime cheese flavor.
Why were they just OK, though? Because of the lime I DID taste, it still felt a little off, a little artificial. To me, lime still tasted like a FLAVOR, rather than that little bit of acid to accentuate the other flavors.
So, not bad, but not great, Lay’s. A genuine MEH rating.
PURCHASED AT: Walmart
COST: $1.50

I have pokemon sheets still…I win.
@Nick – Ah, PATTERNS on sheets – such an unexplored area. You DO win! lol
I technically don’t use them as my bed sheets anymore. They’re more of a keepsake from my childhood aha.
I just have Walmart sheets. I do have some flannel sheets but I get way to hot, and I wake up sweating. I really hate that.
@Will: Nothing wrong with Walmart sheets. You just have to make sure you don’t get the ones that feel like sandpaper 😛
Bamboo, baby. Silky soft, breathable, some kind of antimicrobial property. Bamboo all the way.
@Dana: I had to look up bamboo sheets, and must say, I learned a lot! Consider me educated. Who knew they made bamboo sheets???
I always find “Flamas” to be overly seasoned. And the more I give up my junk food habits the more the extra seasoning bothers me.
Definitely too much powder that sticks to your hands too much and makes your fingers red and certain people might think it’s a crime scene. 🙂
