Walkers Pure Butter Shortbread Scottie Dogs & Lesko Update!
Junk Food Nation, after I posted about Matthew Lesko’s Orange Honda Fit, my friend Neil sent my the following:
“Don’t know how to get this to you in a comment to your blog entry, but apparently Lesko also drives a Honda. this pulled into the dry cleaners next to my office five minutes ago!”
Thanks to Neil for this photo. Riddle me this: (1) How do you go from driving a bright yellow Mini Cooper and a bright orange Honda Fit to a sensible grey Honda Accord, and (2) don’t you think he’d want at least ONE car which wasn’t an eye grabber? One incognito car? I totally respect Lesko and his commitment to the brand, but if you WERE going to have a side unrelated car…wouldn’t this be it?
Still, who am I kidding. If I was somehow able to turn a profit with this blog, you’d see me with big Dorito triangles all over my ride. No doubt.
Today’s junk food: Walkers Pure Butter Shortbread Scottie Dogs!
The good people at Walkers sent me these Walkers Pure Butter Shortbread Scottie Dogs, one of their newest products. While I’m sure they might protest being lumped into the category of junk food, let’s be honest – if you eat this whole box, you’re consuming enough butter to make a cheesecake. And I’m not protesting – I LOVE SHORT BREAD!!!
Every box of Walkers Pure Butter Shortbread Scottie Dogs purchased gives 10 cents to the ASPCA. In the UK these are selling for about 1.80 British Pounds, which equals about 2.83 American Dollars. In the US these are selling for about $4.19. The markup? Import fee, I’m guessing….blast you, other countries trying to make a profit off our short bread loving mouths!
Walkers Pure Butter Shortbread is made in Scotland, but I’ve seen it sold everywhere – online, in stores, etc. The website states:
“Walkers Shortbread is proud to announce that it has teamed up with the ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) to raise funds for the non-profit organization’s animal welfare initiatives across the country. Throughout 2012, Walkers Shortbread will donate 10 cents from the sale of every package of its ‘Scottie Dog’ products sold in the U.S. – including its Scottie Dog cookies and tins – to the ASPCA with a minimum guaranteed donation of $25,000. The initiative with the ASPCA is the first of its kind for Walkers Shortbread.”
I like dogs….Buy these!
If you ate the entire box Walkers Pure Butter Shortbread Scottie Dogs (about ten cookies) you’d be eating approximately 650 calories. That is a very easy and very dangerous way to eat over 600 calories.
Also, I love the phrase “nut allergy sufferers.” It’s not “Those allergic to nuts.” It’s “nut allergy sufferers.” Ever much more dramatic.
Walkers Pure Butter Shortbread Scottie Dogs are packaged simply – stacked up in a little plastic tray.
Um, anyone else think the weird angles, the weird eyes make these Walkers Pure Butter Shortbread Scottie Dogs look sort of like the thestrals from Harry Potter? No? Too much of a stretch? I always DID have a vivid imagination.
The taste of these Walkers Pure Butter Shortbread Scottie Dogs is plain and simply excellent. Like I said before, I love short bread. And basically what this is is a nice, fine, buttery cookie. It’s buttery flour that has been shaped into a dog and then seasoned with sugar and salt. The cookie crunches ever so mildly; the large amount of butter makes this cookie flake away like a pie crust.
The taste is buttery and sweet. A really good cookie that satisfies and helps the ASPCA. What more could you want?
PURCHASED AT: Mailed to me
COST: Free (but can be bought online for various shapes and prices)
