Snikiddy Bold Buffalo Baked Fries & Sandusky Convicted of 45 Counts of WTF
Junk Food Nation, by this time, everyone knows that former Penn State coach Jerry Sandusky was convicted of 45 counts of child sex abuse. As a former prosecutor myself, I’m very glad that justice was served, especially knowing how hard it was for some victims to come forward.
Although the speculation is that Sandusky will be sentenced to a cumulative life sentence, his sentencing technically has not occurred yet – the judge has ordered a pre-sentence report to get an idea of Sandusky’s background and mental health, and will impose sentence in a month or so.
The most anticipated part of the sentencing, in my mind, will be when Sandusky gets to speak on his own behalf. What could this criminal POSSIBLY have to say for himself? Will he try to apologize? Will he attempt to justify his actions? Or will he just remain silent? We’ll see. I have ten bucks that if he tries to apologize that people in the galley will try to tackle him right then and there.
Of course, it remains to be seen if he even survives the period of jail time between now and sentencing. These stories always end bad – suicide, getting shivved, etc. This is one of those storylines everyone wishes never happened at all. Hopefully, though it probably never can, this provides some closure for the victims and can help everyone heal.
Sorry for the somber tone of this post. The whole Sandusky thing just made my head shake. WTF, Sandusky?? Why did you think this way ok? Actually don’t answer that. Just go away.
Today’s junk food: Snikiddy Bold Buffalo Baked Fries!
Snikiddy Bold Buffalo Baked Fries were picked up from my friends at the Fancy Food Show, but honestly, these days you can find Snikiddy in a lot of places – Wegmans, Harris Teeter, Costco, even online. I’ve reviewed many Snikiddy snacks on this blog before…all of them have been pretty good. When I saw they had a Buffalo flavored chip, I was all in from the start. I LOVE Buffalo flavor!
Snikiddy fits snuggly in the line of “healthy junk food,” which I admit sounds like an oxymoron. But whatever. It’s a brand that wants to feed that snack-y side of you while not sacrificing flavor or health. How can you argue with that? (Answer: you don’t. You just dump the bag into your mouth).
I like the look of this font and picture…. it’s not too zany and captures the playfulness of the snack right away. Plus, they outline the title in blue which in my brain signals bleu cheese, contrasted with the red of the pepper and sauce bottle. I dunno why I’m going on and on about the way the Snikiddy Bold Buffalo Baked Fries bag looks. I just like it.
Snikiddy Bold Buffalo Baked Fries are corn and potato snacks that are gluten free and wheat free. And when I read that less than 1/3 of the calories coming from fat, all I see in my brain is “GREEN LIGHT NOMNOMNOM.” I was happy to see that the ingredient list contained a little tomato powder – I hate when people think “buffalo sauce” is only cayenne peppers and vinegar, etc. You need the tomato to give a little savoriness.
As soon as I opened this bag of Snikiddy Bold Buffalo Baked Fries, I could smell a faint peppery and hot sauce smell. Very faint. I couldn’t wait – I ripped into the bag, grabbed like eight sticks at once, and jammed them into my mouth. And WOW! An EXPLOSION of flavor!
The texture of the stick was expected – light and crunchy. Not unlike a thin Cheeto. And not too much corn or potato flavor – this is a GOOD thing, because it means all of the flavor focus can be on the buffalo seasoning itself.
And man, was the buffalo seasoning on POINT, in my opinion. As soon as I placed a fry in my mouth, immediately tanginess emerged, like a good hot sauce has. Then without waiting around, the tanginess developed into the full buffalo sauce flavor with a tiny bit of burn (I wouldn’t have minded a little more spice, but to each his/her own).
The coolest part was the buttermilk ingredient – it made the whole chip creamy all of a sudden, as the initial tanginess also somehow morphed into a nice cheesy creamy flavor, which melded perfectly with the buffalo sauce taste. It was almost as if the initial tanginess branched off into two separate flavors simultaneously that came together perfectly.
REALLY good variety of snack. I loved it. Well done, Snikiddy.

Awesome – need to try these – especially since most of the buffalo snacks you review miss the mark…
Sandusky needs to be beat to a inch of his life, then revived. Then beat again and just keep doing that for the rest of his life. I can’t even stand to look at that monster! I feel for the victims, they will never be able to live a normal life.
