St.VegasMarchIceCreamYouScreamWeAllScreamForPatricksMadnessDayPalooza Day 3: Häagen-Dazs Limited Edition Cranberry Pumpkin Spice

Friday is here!  Junk Food Guy back at ya from Vegas…even though this post was written days ago. Friday means Day 2 of the NCAA tournament (I’m a traditionalist; it’s not Day 4 right now), and my potentially being broke already. I mean, video roulette can’t be rigged, can it?  Ugh.  See what I’m up to by following my Twitter @junkfoodguy feed – I’ll be tweeting all weekend!

Today’s frozen junk food I’d like to review is Häagen-Dazs Limited Edition Cranberry Pumpkin Spice!  This was a limited edition flavor from last year that I MISSED…and was bitter that I did.  Until I spotted it in my local Giant food mart…someone had a secret stash and finally wanted to sell it!  Well, they found a buyer/sucker in me.

Häagen-Dazs Limited Edition Cranberry Pumpkin Spice: the Money Shot

Häagen-Dazs Limited Edition Cranberry Pumpkin Spice: blocks of roasted pumpkin, cinnamon sticks, and cranberries. Sounds like a winning combo to me!

Häagen-Dazs Limited Edition Cranberry Pumpkin Spice: Those cranberries actually sort of look like cherry tomatoes don't they?

Häagen-Dazs Limited Edition Cranberry Pumpkin Spice: Love that Zing of Nutmeg.

Häagen-Dazs Limited Edition Cranberry Pumpkin Spice: Simple ingredients...love that the Cranberry Swirl is actual Cranberry puree

Häagen-Dazs Limited Edition Cranberry Pumpkin Spice: HMMMM a little freezer burn on this tub. Not pleased. But one MUST venture forward in the name of frozen food!

Häagen-Dazs Limited Edition Cranberry Pumpkin Spice: Nice texture after you get past the surface, and clearly visible specks of spice in the pumpkin ice cream.

Häagen-Dazs Limited Edition Cranberry Pumpkin Spice: And there's the cranberry swirl!!!!

Häagen-Dazs Limited Edition Cranberry Pumpkin Spice, it is safe to say you taste like Christmas.  Does that make sense? You taste like all the spices of our now departed holiday season.  The pumpkin ice cream was rich and very strong in pumpkin flavor – it had that sweet earthy flavor.  There was LOTS of cinnamon and nutmeg taste, and that helped elevate the impact of the pumpkin flavor.  Not a whole ton of cran in here, but the bites of red cran I did have were tart and sweet when my tongue hit those spots directly.

VERY good flavor here, I’m sorry I never got to have it in season.  If I were to suggest an improvement: a little more cran.  Otherwise, it was sort of like eating frozen pumpkin pie filling…..which is an amazing thought, isn’t it?  Find this if you can.

  1. What a good idea to have a little tub of frozen holiday in the freezer for when life starts to get ya down! 🙂 And that’s not freezer burn, it’s the protective ice. (See the indie film “Mother” starring Albert Brooks & Debbie Reynolds…)

  2. i want to live in your freezer
