Dry Blood Orange Soda & My Camera Stinks
Good morning (late morning) (fine, its afternoon), world. Soda has been around forever, and I’ll continuously marvel at how much carbonated sugar water goes for these days. The execs at Coke and Pepsi are laughing their asses off right now. As they drown themselves in money.
But more than that, I’m amazed at the world’s attempt to make soda “healthy.” ZERO CALORIES! NATURAL FLAVORS! Excuse me, have you ever read one of those zero calorie bottles? Aren’t we, as a species, acknowledging, “Welp, this is a container full of chemicals that won’t kill me that sort of tastes like Coke.”
Which is why I was intrigued when I saw this all natural four-ingredient soda:
Dry Blood Orange Soda. So I’m not sure if I’ve ever eaten a Blood Orange, but I’m sure its juice isn’t clear. This picture, incidentally, was taken with my iPhone 4.
This is the same bottle picture was taken with my actual point-and-shoot camera. That, years ago, cost a lot more than my already-god-expensive iPhone 4. See the blurriness? See the haze? That’s good camera work right there. I’d consider your days numbered, Canon.
I must commend this company for its aesthetic effort, however. The clear bottle, the orange slices coming off the edges, use of negative space in its design, and the weird signature on the bottle label as if to say each flask was signed off for by some imaginary executive. Mmmmm…so that’s what the word “contrived” tastes like.
As for the soda itself, it wasn’t bad. It was indeed dry – not too sweet. Had a crisp taste to it, as a result. Super carbonated, and when cold, pretty refreshing. Could I tell it was blood orange? Nope. All in all, it was so-so – just your basic semi-sweet orange carbonated liquid with no coloring added.
The Dry Soda Company states that its products are the “Better for You, Diet, Low Sugar, All Natural” Soda. And made in the USA. Ok – awful lot of non-English on this label though. Who you trying to fool?
50 calories for water, sugar, extracts, and phosphoric acid. I guess, all in all, it’s better to drink this than regular soda or chemicalized diet muck. This may be the best of the bunch though – Dry Soda Co. also markets Dry Lavender Soda and Dry Cucumber Soda. Yikes.

Post #2 done. Again, lemme know your feedback below. You’ll see some blurry photos as my blog gets rolling as I try to figure out which camera can get the job done more.
Off to the DC BBQ Battle!
